On Thursday evening, I sat in the camp meeting tent, and as you sang, I was completely overwhelmed by the presence of God. On one of my blog posts, I wrote this: "WAY choir (comprised of young, unmarried people from around the district) effected such grand and magnificent music as should be heard in the finest of concert halls, except that their singing was accompanied by such deep and sincere worship that only in chambers of the sacred should such performance occur."
In another column, I posted from YouTube your singing the moving conclusion: Grace, Grace. Already it has profoundly touched people who read at my site.
Thank you, Brother and Sister Fitzpatrick, Brother and Sister Allard, every choir member and anyone else who have participated in the formation and continuation of this ministry. It is a personal blessing to me, and I am confident to the wider Church of Jesus Christ.
Observing such talented young people coupled with such worship and dedication prompts me to again understand that The Church is in good hands. In no way is God in trouble.
Sis Buxton - I agree with you that the Church is in good hands. The precious understanding of the importance of total commitment and devotion to Jesus and the reward of sincere worship to Him from our heart is instilled deeply in the WAY Choir members. We experienced the result of this combination in the overwhelming presence of God that filled the service. We can experience nothing greater than His Presence as mortal human beings.
Bro. Fitzpatrick became the director of W.A.Y. Choir in 2006 and has brought the choir to a new dimension of talent and worship. To better acquaint you with Bro. Fitzpatrick, here is a short bio. He began playing the piano at age four and has played the piano and organ for over 40 years. In 1982, he moved to Sacramento, CA to assume a Music Director position. In 2002, he completed a Bachelor of Arts in Music Management, a curriculum geared to the business of music, at California State University Sacramento. Bro. Fitzpatrick has a love for mentoring young musicians. During the last several years, he has conducted many choir clinics, taught intensive music training seminars, and developed an online piano course. In 2007, Bro. Fitzpatrick joined the music faculty of Christian life College in Stockton, California. He currently teaches and directs the college choir. Adding to his music education, Bro. Fitzpatrick holds a Mechanical Engineering degree and is currently a professor of Engineering Design Technology at Sacramento City College.
